Partner Visas

  • Temporary Partner Visa: A provisional visa for de facto and spouse partners of Australian citizens. It precedes the permanent partner visa.
  • Permanent Partner Visa: Typically, partners need to prove a two-year stay with their Australian partner. Exceptions apply for longer relationships or dependent children.
  • Prospective Spouse Visa: For fiancés/fiancées of future Australian marriage partners. Allows a nine-month stay to marry and apply for a partner visa.

Parent Visas

  • Parent visas in Australia fall into two major categories: non-contributory and contributory.
  • There are six classes of Parent visas available.
  • Parent visas are primarily categorised as Contributory and Non Contributory
  • Parent Visas may also be classified based on age and offer options for temporary and permanent residence.
  • Permanent parent visas allow a five-year stay in Australia with work, study, Medicare, travel, and citizenship possibilities.
  • Non-contributory parent visas have significant processing delays of 25 to 30 years due to limited visa processing capacity.
  • Contributory parent visas have shorter processing times but higher costs.
  • Non-contributory visas have lower fees, but the limited number of places leads to considerable application delays.
