Commencing from July 1,2023. International graduates with degrees in specific fields experiencing verified skill shortages were granted an additional two years on their Temporary Graduate visa (Subclass 485) under extended post – study work rights.

However, due to shifts in Australia’s economic landscape and further considerations outlined in the Migration Strategy, this extension was reassessed. As a result, starting from mid – 2024, international higher education graduates will no longer be able to apply for this extension.

It is important to note that international graduates who possess an Australian qualification and fulfill the Australian study requirement can still apply for the existing Temporary Graduate (Post Study Work stream) visa.
